Introduce
發泡劑是一種工業材質,用途大部分是填補空隙,被封存在管線或牆壁中,無法被視覺感知。於是通過實驗染色、擠花、編織等技巧,將發泡劑轉化為一種可見光、可被視覺感知的材料,而不同的擠花的方式和顏色上的搭配,將賦予發泡劑新的結構和視覺感受,創造出獨特的紋理以及全新的藝術效果。
Foaming agent, an industrial filler, hides within pipelines or walls, invisible to the eye.
By experimenting with dyeing and piping, it transforms into a visible material, offering a fresh look and creating unique artistic effects.

Material Experimentation
01 Material : Foaming Agent
發泡劑發泡的原理是藉由將發泡劑與高分子共同混合均勻後,藉由壓力的變化(例如從噴罐內擠出到噴灌外的壓力變化)使其轉換至氣態,接著膨脹高分子的體積才會達到發泡並膨脹至原本體積的3~5倍。
The foaming agent works by mixing evenly with the polymer and then undergoing a pressure change, such as from being sprayed out of a can, which transforms it into a gas. This gas expands the volume of the polymer, leading to foaming and an increase in volume by 3-5 times.
02 Color
透過使用壓克力顏料將發泡劑染色,兩者濃稠度相近因此可以很均勻地混合。在調色實驗中發現,顏料與發泡劑的比例不同可以營造出不同的質感及硬度。當發泡劑成分占比越少時,成品顆粒越大且硬度越高。因此,需要在不同的比例中調整,找出最適合應用的完美比例。
By using acrylic paint to dye the foaming agent, they can be mixed evenly due to their similar viscosity. Through color mixing experiments, it's discovered that different ratios of paint to foaming agent can create varied textures and hardness. When the proportion of foaming agent is lower, the resulting particles are larger and harder. Therefore, adjustments in different ratios are needed to find the perfect proportion most suitable for application.
03 Piping Practice
發泡劑未乾時的質感帶點濃稠度,讓我聯想到鮮奶油,因此嘗試將調色後的發泡劑裝進擠花袋中並學習基本的擠花技巧來控制發泡劑的形狀大小、單位。

04 Flat Weaving 
利用線條去構築不同編織的圖案、花紋,也包含顏色上的搭配,以及使用不同粗細的花嘴去營造新的視覺效果。
Constructing various patterns and designs through the use of lines, including color coordination, and employing different nozzle sizes to create new visual effects.
05 Three - Dimensional Folding 
踏入立體發展階段,發現發泡劑風乾至7-8成時可透過塑形、固定使其朝立體方向彎折,隨後靜置至完全風乾,形成定型,於是嘗試了各種不同的彎折方式來思考可以運用到哪些產品上。
I discovered that when the foam is 70-80% dry, it can be shaped and fixed to bend in a three-dimensional direction. Subsequently, allowing it to air dry completely results in the desired setting. Therefore, I experimented with various folding techniques, contemplating their potential applications in different products.
